Think only on the things of God:

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. – Philippians 4:8

Have you, in your own journey through life, noticed that a lot of what you say comes from your heart?

It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man. – Matthew 15:11

What if we, in retrospect, considered what we hear ourselves say out loud? Are our thoughts true, pure, honorable, lovely and good?

What if we spent more time meditating on the Word of God? Wouldn’t He dwell that much more richly in us? He already resides in those who follow His Way. But wouldn’t we hear Him that much more? Experience His peace that much more?

Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! – Psalm 46:10 (ESV)

This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. – Joshua 1:8

The thought life:

1) Meditate in the Word. Stop, slow down, and consider the righteous (good and Godly) course of action.

2) Consider our own words as an outward reflection of our inward being.

3) Copy Jesus’ actions because He copied His Father’s actions. See: John 5:19-20
